Community Involvement
Brighten Up Boerne
Each year, Boerne Parks and Recreation invites residents to take a plain old boring trash can and transform it into a work of art. A different theme is picked each year. Previous themes have included sports, nature, and superheroes! The theme for 2025 was Family Game Night, and we think we knocked it out of the park!
This event is free; all you have to do is register online to let Parks & Recreation know you're ready to Brighten Up Boerne. All ages, groups, and organizations are welcome to participate. Trash cans are provided and come primed and ready for your paintbrushes. Decorated trash cans are then collected and sent out to the city parks!

Warm Feet For Warriors - Soldiers' Angels
THE FINAL COUNT IS IN!!
Thanks to your incredible support, we didn’t just meet our goal—we crushed it! This year, we collected an amazing 42,747 pairs of socks, far surpassing our goal of 25,000. Your generosity helped make this among our most impactful Warm Feet for Warriors campaign yet. Thank you for stepping up in such a big way!
We were able to raise over 300 pairs of socks for soldiers from our very own Ft Hood! Thank you to ALL who supported us in this effort to provide for our American Soldiers!!!

Kendall County Blue Santa Toy Drive
Our first annual toy drive was a success! We were able to procure 65 toys in about 28 days. On the morning of the 17th, we made our drop to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, where Megan welcomed us with open arms. She told us the Blue Santa Toy Drive was providing Christmas for 596 children, from approximately 300 families throughout Kendall County and the Kendall County School System.
Gift giving is as old as time itself, but we have not always wrapped gifts before giving them to our friends and loved ones. In the 1800’s, almost ALL gifts were handmade. Once people started purchasing factory-made trinkets and toys, they wanted to make these gifts feel as though there was more effort put into them. So, the gift giver began wrapping these presents in brown paper and decorating them. While wrapping gifts this Christmas season, I was reminded the very first Christmas gift was wrapped…in swaddling clothes.
Luke 2:7 says, “She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
God himself wrapped in the form of a baby, who came so He could wrap us ALL in His love.
